DVSA and the National Associations Strategic Partnership have held their latest quarterly meeting on 16 September 2026 to discuss some of the principal challenges and proposed developments affecting the driver training profession.

Representatives met at DVSA’s Berkeley House offices in Bristol on 16 September for a wide-ranging discussion about the future of the profession and the services supporting it.

The meeting explored the current pressures on ADI services and the qualification journey, including the delivery of Parts 2 and 3, trainee licences and the consistency of training. Proposed developments to the qualification process and the future of the Official Register of Driving Instructor Training were also considered.

Other areas covered included the updated ADI code of practice, complaints handling, standards checks and the way DVSA consults and communicates with the profession.

The discussion also looked beyond individual policies and processes to consider the working relationship between DVSA, NASP and frontline driver trainers. This included how engagement could be improved and how future meetings could provide a stronger forum for addressing the profession’s priorities.

The full meeting report provides an overview of the discussions, the positions raised by NASP and the next steps identified.
