Why DIA

DIA. Serious about Safeguarding.

Safeguarding may be receiving greater attention across the profession, but DIA has been actively developing safeguarding education, guidance and professional support for Driver and Rider Trainers for many years.

Nearly a decade

Safeguarding education

DIA has been delivering safeguarding education and guidance specifically for the driver and rider training profession for nearly a decade.

Real cases

Experience in practice

We support instructors through complaints, investigations, removals and professional conduct matters, giving DIA direct insight into the realities trainers can face.

Industry involvement

Helping shape standards

DIA works with DVSA and wider government on professional standards, policy and regulation, bringing the experience of working trainers into those discussions.

Safeguarding Training

Build a stronger safeguarding foundation.

Reading guidance is an important starting point, but professional safeguarding knowledge needs to go further. DIA recommends a nationally accredited Level 3 safeguarding qualification as the foundation for professional Driver and Rider Trainers.

This is DIA’s professional development recommendation, not a statement that Level 3 is a universal legal requirement. Focused courses and continuing professional development can then build on that foundation.

Level 3

Build the broader safeguarding knowledge expected of a professional trainer.

Focused learning

Explore individual subjects including professional boundaries, emotional abuse and criminal exploitation.

Keep developing

Make safeguarding part of your ongoing professional development and practice.
