DIA CEO Carly Brookfield has written to Nadhim Zahawi to urge him to consider driver and rider trainers as a priority group for the next stage of the vaccination rollout. Nadhim Zahawi is the government minister for COVID vaccine deployment.
She pointed out that it is crucial to public safety that we resume a level of driver and rider training and testing as soon as possible to ensure we are delivering safe and competent riders and drivers to our roads. This is particularly important as road traffic accidents per volume of traffic increased in the last year.
Carly also alerted the minister to the fact that ADIs and rider trainers are essential to help DVSA clear the estimated backlog of 400,000 driving tests.
