The Official Highway Code (English)
We describe so many of our shop products as ‘essential reading’, but they don’t get much more essential than The Official Highway Code. These are the guidelines and rules that govern all road users in England, Scotland and Wales – and ignorance is no excuse when it comes to breaking those rules.
In order to avoid fines, penalty points, driving bans or even prison, it is crucial for drivers to be aware of the rules of the road at all times. The Official Highway Code offers the clearest explanation of the most current legislation, including references to the laws behind the rules, as well as advice on safety and best practice.
The Highway Code is by necessity an evolving document, so drivers who have held their licence for a number of years need to ensure that they familiarise themselves with the most up-to-date versions of the Highway Code. All the latest signs and innovations in road layout and technology are included here.
The government says that the main aim of the Highway Code is to protect the most vulnerable people on the roads, and reduce as far as possible the number of deaths each year. It’s a responsibility everyone shares, and it begins with The Official Highway Code.
