The Future
More than a million people are dying on the world’s roads every year. Yet over 90% of
so-called road traffic ‘accidents’ are caused by driver error. One solution to these horrifying statistics is to improve driving skills, knowledge and attitudes through better training. The IVV has a simple policy towards international road safety: total support must be given to those who are responsible for that training. Whilst we are directly working towards the harmonisation of driver licensing, we must extend this to testing and training in Europe. The IVV is committed to ensuring that these standards are monitored and improved within Europe and, ultimately, extended worldwide.
