Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) is for anyone looking to diversify their teaching portfolio. Our course is accredited by EDI and packaged with driver trainers in mind. It could be that you want to beef up your in-car skills, or you want to move out of the passenger seat and into the classroom.

The PTLLS course will provide you with invaluable skills you can apply in many different teaching situations.

Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS)

This qualification satisfies the government requirement for teachers, tutors and trainers to hold an award for preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector.

Learners will gain knowledge and understanding of the teacher’s role and approaches to teaching and learning, plan learning sessions and manage learning.

The achievement of the EDI Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector will confirm that they have shown they have a good understanding of the essential aspects of the teacher/trainer role, can organise and manage effective learning and have developed professionally through ongoing reflection and evaluation.

On completion of the one mandatory unit, learners will have demonstrated that they are able to:

  • Understand the teacher’s role and legislative requirements
  • Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches
  • Demonstrate session planning skills
  • Deliver and evaluate learning
  • Understand the use of assessment methods and reasons for keeping records of assessment
