Spring Seminar and AGM

What's happening?

The 2012 Spring Seminar and AGM will take place on 26 March at the Greater Manchester Police Sedgley Park Centre in Manchester. We want to help you reveal the layers of your trade through presentations, discussion and the opportunity to meet colleagues from across the country.

2012 seminar at 2011 prices

Tickets for the 2012 Spring Seminar and AGM will cost £47.50, exactly the same as last year. Additionally, we have a special offer where you can book five places and get a sixth free.

The price will include a hot lunch, pastries on arrival and refreshments throughout the day as well as the money-can’t-buy insights from our range of guest speakers and resident DIA experts.

Guest speakers

An expert in driver psychology, Dr Lisa Dorn leads a team of psychologists at Cranfield University conducting research into driver behaviour and education. Her work also includes the use of simulators for driver training. Dr Dorn will be explaining her work and giving delegates an insight into what is a fast-developing field.

DSA Registrar Charles Morton joined the DSA 10 years ago, working his way up to become regional manager for the Midlands and the East. He took over the running of the London area for six months before being asked to become Registrar five years ago. He will update delegates on the DSA’s progress in modernising the driver training industry.

Continuing Professional Development

The DIA is fully committed to encouraging and equipping all of its members to take part in and record CPD on a regular basis.

As well as advice on how you can maintain your online CPD diary in the members’ section of the website, the Spring Seminar and AGM will count as hours towards your CPD. The DIAmond team will also be on hand to explain the DIA Member CPD Programme.

Any other questions?

The DIA’s team of experts will also be on hand to offer help:

Group manager Steve Garrod is an industry expert who meets regularly with ministers, officials and decision-makers on behalf of the DIA.

DIAmond chief examiner Mike Frisby has many years of experience instructing on two wheels and four up to the highest levels. He has been working on road safety issues for over 20 years.

Training coordinator Olivia Baldock is an authority on the many courses that the DIA offers to its members and works hard to help members expand their business portfolios.

Admin manager Tina Sellwood runs the DIA shop and finds all of the best products. With her crack team of staff she will bring a full range of products to Manchester for you to purchase, and you can even pre-order goods for collection on the day.

Annual General Meeting

Steve Garrod will give a report on the busy work of the previous 12 months at the Driving Instructors Association and will present our vision for the year ahead.
